FAQs and Health Benefits
Helpful guidance for a safe, comfortable and restorative sauna experience.
The benefits of regular sauna use
Regular sauna use can support both physical and mental wellbeing when enjoyed safely and consistently. Many people use sauna as part of a healthier routine to help improve circulation, support heart health, ease muscle tension, aid recovery after exercise, improve sleep and encourage relaxation.
When heat is paired with cooling phases such as cold plunge and proper rest between rounds, it can also help reduce soreness, boost alertness, support stress relief and leave you feeling more refreshed overall. At Oasis Saunas, the experience is designed to give guests access to these benefits through a calm, welcoming and well-managed environment.
What is the difference between the sauna types
Oasis Saunas offers three distinct sauna experiences so guests can choose the style of heat that suits them best.
The Finnish sauna is the most traditional option, using high temperatures and low humidity to create an intense, dry heat. This is ideal for those who enjoy a stronger, more invigorating sauna session.
The infrared sauna offers a gentler experience by heating the body more directly rather than warming the air in the same way. Many guests find this a more comfortable and steady form of heat.
The biosauna sits somewhere in between, with lower temperatures than a Finnish sauna but higher humidity, often combined with aromatherapy for a softer and more sensory experience.
What should I know about comfort, privacy and behaviour
Oasis Saunas has been designed to feel calm, welcoming and respectful for all guests. We ask everyone to help protect that atmosphere by keeping voices low, respecting personal space and treating others with courtesy, patience and consideration.
All bodies are welcome, and we want guests to feel comfortable throughout their visit. Body shaming or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. Phone use should be kept to a minimum, devices should be left outside the sauna or kept on silent, and photography is not permitted in sauna areas.
These simple expectations help make Oasis feel safe, peaceful and enjoyable for everyone.
What should I wear and what are the hygiene rules
Before entering the sauna, guests should shower thoroughly using soap to remove lotions, sweat and perfumes, then dry off fully before entering the heat. Outdoor footwear should be removed, and only clean flip-flops should be worn in designated areas. All jewellery should also be removed before entering the sauna.
Oasis operates a no swimwear policy for hygiene and comfort. Guests should use the clean, bespoke sauna wraps and towels provided. A towel should always be placed between your body and the bench when sitting or lying down.
Guests should also use towels generously throughout their visit, ideally one for sitting or lying on and another for drying off after sauna or cooling sessions. Oils and lotions should not be applied before sauna use, as they can leave residue on benches and shared surfaces.
What do I need to know about the cold plunge
The cold plunge tubs and overhead splash barrel are optional parts of the Oasis experience and are used after sauna to create contrast therapy. Alternating between heat and cold can help awaken circulation, reduce muscle soreness, improve alertness and leave you feeling refreshed after a session.
Before using the cold plunge tubs, splash barrel or other shared facilities, guests should rinse off after sauna use. This helps maintain hygiene and keeps the experience pleasant for everyone. If cold exposure does not feel right for you, you can cool down gradually and take a slower approach to the contrast phase of your visit.
Who should take extra care
Sauna use is not suitable for everyone, and some guests should take medical advice before visiting. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, low or high blood pressure, are taking medication, or have any underlying health concerns, you should speak with a healthcare professional before using the sauna or cold plunge.
You should leave the sauna straight away if you feel dizzy, overheated or unwell. It is also important to stay hydrated before and after your session. Each round should be limited to a maximum of 20 minutes, with cooling breaks in between.
All guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Important health and safety guidance
Oasis Saunas is designed to support wellbeing, relaxation and recovery, but it is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. All guests use the facilities at their own discretion and should listen to their body throughout their session.
- Please take care to stay hydrated, avoid overexposure to heat and follow the guidance provided on-site. If you are ever unsure whether sauna or cold exposure is appropriate for you, please seek professional medical advice before booking.
- Please take care when moving around wet areas, including showers, cold plunge areas and changing spaces. Floors may become slippery, so guests should walk slowly, use suitable footwear where advised, and follow any on-site safety guidance.
Practical information before and after your session
For the best experience, guests should arrive prepared to move through heat, cooling and relaxation at a steady pace. Each sauna round should be limited to no more than 20 minutes, with time to cool down and rest in between.
After your session, it is best to relax rather than exercise straight away. Guests are encouraged to rehydrate well, replenish minerals, moisturise their skin and eat lightly rather than having a heavy meal immediately afterwards. Alcohol should be avoided, and you should not drive if you feel lightheaded after your visit.
Booking, cancellation and usage terms will be provided clearly at the point of booking. If you are unsure which session is right for you, the Oasis team will be happy to help.
